Wanted man nabbed

The Mount Lavinia police yesterday arrested a person who was involved in a number of extortion cases in Colombo and suburbs.

This person who is well known among the people in the Ratmalana and Mount Lavinia area as Chooti Putha has been issued with more than 80 notices.

Chooti Putha was involved in a number of underworld activities and he managed to escape from Police custody on two occasions in 2008 and 2009.

Police investigations have revealed that he has more than five wives and has been living luxurious life. He is accused of extorting billions of rupees from businessmen in Colombo and the suburbs at gun point.

Mount Lavinia police are conducting investigations.
