Government - Private sector link:

Employments for disabled

Social Services Minister Felix Perera said a link will be created between the Government and the private sector to identify suitable employment opportunities for the disabled people.

The Minister made this remark when he visited the Vocational Training Centre of disabled people in Seeduwa recently, a Ministry spokesman told the Daily News. Minister Perera has also decided to provide suitable and modern technical equipments to the centre.

The Minister has noted the lack of educational and other facilities.

The Minister has requested his officers to draw a plan to introduce these people to the job market. “We should make them an activate part of the country’s development” the Minister said.

There are about 120 girls and boys undergoing training in this institute. There are about 20 vocational technical courses are taught under expert instructors’ guidance. Despite the lack of facilities these disabled children learn hard with courage and determination, the Minister said.

The Minister appreciated the instructors and students.
