Sri Lanka at Thai Cultural Festival

A dance troupe from Hillwood College, Kandy, represented Sri Lanka at
the 4th National Regional Cultural Festival organized by the Office of
the National Culture Commission of the Royal Thai Government held
recently in the Yala Province.
Selected countries were invited to perform at this festival where
over 40 different dance troupes from different parts of Thailand took
part.
Twenty Hillwoodians performed alongside troupes from Korea,
Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia. The grand opening ceremony was held
under the patronage of the Cultural affairs and National Heritage
Minister Pavithra Wanniarachch and the Governor of Yala Province. The
visit was co-ordinated by Tilak Fernando, who presented a special
memento to the Thai Minister of Culture in the form of a Plaque in the
shape of Sri Lanka. |
