Former Russian PM attends Iran’s nuke plant’s opening
Russia: Former Russian Prime Minister and Russian state-run Rosatom
company Chief Serguei Kirienko attended the opening of the Iranian
Bushar nuclear plant Saturday, which should start operating before the
end of this year.
According to Moscow television channels, Kirienko is participating in
the ceremony of the physical launch of the plant, during which the
reactor will be charged with bars of fuel, but its real energy
production will be delayed for several months.
The Rosatom Chief clarified that the building of the nuclear plant
which began in 1975 with a German firm and was taken over by Russia in
1998, was always controlled by the International Atomic Energy Agency,
and that other nations, apart from Russia took part in its construction.
Kirienko also said that the period of testing of the plant was
concluded, and what begins now is the start-up of the nuclear plant’s
operations, which includes various stages, in each of which the
authorization of the Iranian control groups is required.
The inauguration of the Busher plant coincides with the dispute over
Iran’s nuclear program whose peaceful character is defended by Iran
while the US and other western nations push to apply unilateral
sanctions against the Persian state.
