Huck sees off Godfrey retains title
World cruiserweight champion Marco Huck defended his WBO title
against America’s Matt Godfrey after the referee stopped the fight in
the fifth round here.
Godfrey was put on the canvas once in the second round and twice in
the fifth round before the referee Genaro Rodriguez stopped the fight.
Miyazato leads Safeway Classic
Japan’s Ai Miyazato fired a six-under 66 on Friday for the
first-round lead at the LPGA Safeway Classic at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club.
Miyazato had a one-stroke lead on Taiwan’s Teresa Lu and Jee Young
Lee of South Korea.
Miyazato is in a five-way tussle for the world’s top rankers.

Tries from captain and loose forward Richie McCaw and replacement

Phelps withdraws from 200m
Michael Phelps withdrew from the 200m individual medley at the Pan
Pacific Championships on Saturday. Swimmer would focus on the closing
relay of the meet. Bowman, speaking as the heats started on the fourth
and final day of competition in the pool, said Phelps told that he
didn’t believe he could swim preliminaries. |
