Rajans clinch Under-18 rugby title
Dharmaraja College Kandy clinched the Under-18 all island inter
school sevens rugby title when they defeated St Peter’s College by 10
points to 7 points in the Cup championship final worked off at the Royal
Sports Complex in Reid Avenue yesterday.
The Rajans who beat some of the more fancied opponents on their way
into the final collected their points from two unconverted tries after
having trailed 0-7 at half time.
The Peterites responded with a solitary goal. The Rajans beat Trinity
7-0 and Royal 7-0 in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively.
Meanwhile Science College took the Plate championship with a close 7-3
win over Thurstan College in the final.
The winners collected their points from one goal while Thurstan who
led 3 nil at half time responded with a solitary penalty.
Wesley College annexed the Bowl title while overcoming CWW Kannangara
MMV Borella by 19 points to 5 points in the final encounter.
The Wesleyites collected their points from two goals and one try
after having led 12-5 at half time.
