One suspect of the two prisoners who attempted to flee the Bogambara Prison, where they were housed at, was found while hiding in the premises yesterday.

The other prisoner died of gun shot injuries on the spot when the prison security officers opened fire at the two who attempted to flee the prison at about 1.00 a.m. yesterday.

The deceased a father of one, 29, had been imprisoned for robberies and thefts committed in Bandarawela, Horana and Theldeniya areas. The other suspect, a Navy deserter and a resident of Gunnepana has nine pending cases on Courts.

They had crept through the roof of the cell using a bed sheet tied to the beam, during heavy rains, prison sources said.
