Iran ready to defeat any US aggression

IRAN: Iran reiterated Tuesday its determination to defeat any US aggression, in a blunt response to the statements of Adm. Mike Mullen, who said his country has an strategic plan for attacking Iran.

Gen. Hossein Kan’ani Moghadam, Deputy Commander of the Revolutionary Guard, said “we have dug the graves” to bury any US troops who attack the country.

While Mullen qualified his statement by saying a military offensive against the Islamic Republic might be a bad idea, he let stand a formulation that was quickly rejected by Iran’s military commanders.

Gen Moghadam Kan’ani warned that a military attack could spark a war in the region. For Iranian authorities, the United States is one of the largest supporters of terrorism in the last three decades, by financing terrorist groups.

In statements to to the news agency IRNA, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehman Parast responded to an August 5 US State Department report on terrorism. Mehman Parast said that Washington supported groups involved in armed actions and attacks on his country.

The spokesman stressed that crimes and atrocities of the Zionists (Israel) in Palestine and Lebanon are a good example of the U.S. government’s role in promoting terrorism in the region.
