Travel trade soccer champs

Traveller Global Company bagged the Traveller Global Trophy with a convincing 4-0 win over Combined Airlines in the final of the Travel Trade Soccer Sevens worked off at CR and FC grounds, Longden Place on Sunday.

Early in the first half M Ismeth put the winners in the lead by scoring the first goal. A few minutes later Mohamed Ikram banged in the second goal to give them a 2-0 lead at the breather.

Midway in the second half Mohamed Ikram scored his second goal to make it 3-0 which was followed by a goal from Mohamed Sameer and Traveller Global ran out worthy winners by four goals to nil. Sampath Nakandala referred.

Twenty teams took part in this tournament which was organised by the Travel Trade Sports Club.

The Plate Trophy was bagged by Royal Palms Hotel who edged out Taj Samudra Hotel by one goal to nil.

Sampath Amaradeva of Traveller Global received the Golden Boot Award and a cash prize of Rs 5,000 for scoring the highest number of goals in the tournament while the best player was Mohamed Ikram who was awarded Rs 5,000.
