Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting 2010 of the Sri Lanka Institute of Landscape Architects will be held at the Centre for Housing Planning and Building, Sunil Mawatha, Pelawatta, Battaramulla on August 15 at 10.30 am.

This will be preceded by a Professional Development lecture for all members of the Institute delivered by Dr Diane Menzies, Immediate Past President, International Federation of Landscape Architects and a Commissioner of the Environment Court of New Zealand at 9 am. Registration will be at 8.30 am.

Ethics for world peace

“Ethics for world peace” annual competitive exam 2010 conduced by the Buddhist Affairs Department by courtesy of Thailand Dhammkaya Foundation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. On Aug 15 in 286 centres in the island. Around 9,211 Dhamma school students are due to sit for the exam. This exam is held in 27 countries in ten languages.

Scouts camporee

The 47th Colombo District Scouts camporee will be held from August 13 to 16 at the Viharamaha Devi Park, Colombo.

The Chief Guest at the opening ceremony on August 13 will be the First Vice Chairman of the Asia Pacific Scouts Region Sports Minister C B Ratnayake.

Mobile service

A mobile service organised by the Public Administration and Home affairs Ministry will be held at the Seevali Madya Maha Vidyalaya premises, Ratnapura on September 18 and 19. Several State institutions including the Department for Registration of Missions, Department of the Commissioner of Motor Traffic, Immigration and Emigration, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Agriculture and the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council will be in attendance to provide instant solutions to the problems of the people.

Dr NM Perera Memorial Hall

The Dr N M Perera Memorial Hall built at Ruwanwella to commemorate the 31st death anniversary of Former LSSP leader and Finance Minister Dr N M Perera will be opened by Prime Minister D M Jayaratne on August 14 at 2 pm.

Road closure

Old Kesbewa Road from Kattiya junction to Delkanda junction remains closed since 11 p.m. yesterday to 9 a.m on August 14 due to urgent repairs to the canal embankment near Delkanda junction.
