Companies who failed to register struck off

Industry and Commerce Minister Rishad Bathiudeen said that the Department of Registrar of Companies is currently in the process of striking off the companies that have not re-registered under the new Companies Act No. 07 of 2007.

The Minister said that while there were 6,5845 companies registered under the old Companies Act of 1982 and the 1938 Ordinance, only about 20,865 companies had re-registered under the new Companies Act of 2007.

Meanwhile, 14,700 companies have newly registered from 2007 upto now under the new Companies Act of 2007. He said that 35,727 companies that have not re-registered under the new Companies Act facing the risk of losing their registration.

According to the Minister, all the companies that fail to re-register after the deadline would be omitted from the registry.
