‘Samurdhi officers always for country’s development’

Samurdhi officers are always ready to assist the government in any fruitful and progressive programs as usual, All Island Samurdhi Development and Agricultural Research Production Assistants Officers Society Chief Secretary S.A.D. Jagath Kumara said.

The Secretary addressing the media said yesterday that Samurdhi officers will participate in any sort of development programs or social services such as Dengue eradication campaigns despite the recent incident between Deputy Minister Mervyn Silva and one of Samurdhi officers.

“President Mahinda Rajapaksa has taken proper step in that issue. The President has safeguarded the dignity of all Government servants by taking prompt action.

The brave action of the President is highly appreciated,” Jagath Kumara added.

No further trade union action will be taken as the President has taken a proper action against Deputy Minister Mervin Silva for the unlawful behaviour.

But several trade unions are trying to strengthen their unions pretending that they are standing for their members.

Therefore, Jagath Kumara requested all Samurdhi officers not to fall prey to such opportunistic trade unions.
