All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama honours Justice Weeramantry
All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama awarded a special plaque and two gold
coins to honour Justice C G Weeramantry for his work on the book
‘Islamic Jurisprudence: An International Perspective’, at the Sri Lanka
Exhibition and Convention Centre on Sunday.
ACJU President As-Shaikh Mufthi Rizwa said, “On this occasion we have
a very special guest of honour, Honourable Justice Weeramantry. We, All
Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama, on behalf of the entire Muslim world and the
whole mankind in general, are proud to applaud and honour Justice
Weeramantry for his wonderful creation of the book called ‘Islamic
Jurisprudence; An International Perspective’. It is a submission to the
cause of international peace through the cross-cultural understanding.
”We honour him for his brave attempt of publicizing the Islami
Jurisprudence to the whole world, as the divine law. He takes the reader
throughout the history from the period of ignorance to the highly
civilized and successful society; being a model of all facets of life.
”Justice Weeramantry is a Doctor of Laws in the University of London,
a former Justice of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, a former Professor
in Law in Melbourne, Australia, a former Vice-President of the
International Court of Justice.
He devoted for more than three decades in exploring the
interrelationship between law and religion; and he has examined major
world religions to the development of the international law and human
rights.
