Commit yourselves to be good citizens
Tharunyata Hetak Organization President and Hambantota
Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa stated on Monday that the children of
Kilinochchi must commit themselves to studies to be useful citizens.
He said although Kilinochchi is a rural area the children should have
the strength as President Mahinda Rajapaksa had although he was coming
from the Hambantota District which is equally a underprivileged area.
He made this observation on Monday at a ceremony held at Paranthan
Maha Vidyalaya in Kilinochchi to distribute exercise books among
schoolchildren. The Tharunyata Hetak Organization distributed exercise
books among 82 schools reopened in the Kilinochchi District.
He further stated that the wish of the country was to see the younger
generation who held weapons instead of books resume studies and become
productive citizens of the country.
Namal Rajapaksa MP and Uditha Lokubandara MP are visiting schools in
Kilinochchi to find out shortages.
Although this is school vacation time the teachers and the students
participated in the ceremonies and warmly welcomed the young
politicians. Students disabled due to the war also discussed their
problems in education with the parliamentarians.
Northern Governor W.A. Chandrasiri, Kilinochchi Government Agent Y.
Kedeeswaran, Kilinochchi Education Director Kurukulanathan, Brigadier
Lasantha Wickramasooriya and Lake House Editorial Director and Media
Adviser of Namal Rajapaksa, Seelaratne Senarath also participated at the
occasion.
