Morning tea spiked with poison

A four year girl of Naula died of poisoning on admission to the Naula Hospital yesterday after drinking the morning tea prepared by her mother mixed with curator, a poisonous agrochemical.

The mother who prepared the tea had given it to her two children and she herself had drunk it. Later, the mother and her nine year old son were admitted to the Matale Base Hospital in a serious condition.

Naula Police said her husband who is working as a driver in a rice mill in Polonnaruwa had left her after a dispute on August 3.

Naula Police are conducting investigations on the instructions of OIC Sri Lal Hettiarachchi.
