Taj Samudra wins "Best" twice over for South African theme
Spice 2010's been an exciting time for the entire city. With a host
of restaurants a buzz with activity and the finest show casing of
cuisine even out on the street, it really was an eventful few days. For
the Taj Samudra it's almost meant coming out shining with awards in no
less than 4 categories!

Being honoured the most coveted awards of "Best Theme Restaurant" and
"Best Theme Hawkers Street" is a truly remarkable feat. When given the
theme of South African, the team sat down together and conjured images
of zulu women with alluringly bright beaded necklaces to the baffling
beauty of her wildlife. Suddenly South Africa was a nation waiting to
express herself on canvas.
Under the guidance of Master Chef Damith, the kitchen team recreated
a piece of mighty South Africa. Amongst the fine works of art on canvas
were a true to life elephant and lion complemented by another collage of
symbolic African elements.
In two further categories the Taj Samudra shone once again. Melani
Perera's "Spiced Elephant" cocktail a delightful concoction of apple
soda, a mix of spices and fresh fruit won her Runners up in the "Spice
Mocktail Competition". Suresh Indika's daring tea including refreshing
flavours of mint and ginger placed him as Runner up in the and "Spice
Tea Competition". |
