Shipping Corp MoU with top UK firm

The Sri Lanka Shipping Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Universal Freight Organization (UFO) of the United Kingdom, a powerful international shipping network maintaining its shipping activities with 121 shipping institutes in 110 countries, Shipping Corporation Chairman Prasad Galhena said in a press release.

Sri Lanka Shipping Corporation which had been undergoing a setback due to the war that prevailed over 30 years, is now expanding its shipping activities and maintaining services with organizations in the international shipping network.

Developing shipping activities is a main task to accomplish the envisaged development targets in the process of making Sri Lanka the miracle of Asia, the release added.

After signing the MoU, UFO Chairperson Rachel Humphrey said with the ongoing steady economic development in Sri Lanka, the Shipping Corporation joining with the UFO which has won ISO 9001-2000 is a milestone of the future progress in Sri Lanka's shipping sector.
