Kandy Perahera begins Aug 10

The annual Kandy Esala Perahera will commence on August 10 and the final night Maha Randoli Perahera will be on August 24. The water cutting ceremony will be at Getambe Mahaweli river on August 25.

Four Devala Peraheras will be held from August 10 to 14. The Kumbal Perahera will be from August 15 to 19 and the Randoli Perahera will be from August 20 to 24.

Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela Bandara has instructed officials to provide all facilities to devotees during the Esala Perahera season.

A large number of pilgrims and sightseers are expected in Kandy during the Perahera.
