Vrukshasana
This
is a standing asana. This is called Vrukshasana as the body of the
person practising the asana takes the shape of a tree.
Stand straight. Keep the feet together.
Place the right foot on the left thigh. Stretch the hands wide apart.
Bring the palms close together.
Look forward. Be in this posture as long as you can wait.
Change the foot and practise the asana.
There are several ways to this asana. Each way will be elaborated in
future lessons.
Benefits of the asana
* Improves concentration and memory power.
* Dissolves excess fat and iron deposited on the joints.
* However, those who are obese should practise other yoga postures
before practising Vrukshasana. Pregnant women and those who have
undergone surgeries in the legs lately should refrain from practising
this asana.
