Java Lane SC hold Airmen to a two all draw

The Dialog Champions League Soccer Toyurnament began on Saturday at the City Football Complex with the host Java Lane SC meeting Sri Lanka Air Force and sttled for a draw.

In this opening game The airmen were in front from the start and got off to the most wanted lead in the 31st minute of the game through the boot of Imtiaz Raheem and held on to it until the lemons. After the turn around Airmen went further ahead scoring their second goal through a penalty taken by striker Konara who made no mistake with the kick which almost looked like an unbeatable lead.

Their hopes were dashed when the Java Lane players used different tactics to attack the Airmen’s territory and gained good results in the 73rd minute with Nagur Meena scoring to the delight of the Java Lane fans.

It was a treat for over thousands of Java Lane fans of Slave Island as the home team displayed attacking football at the last 30 minutes. Java Lane forwards went on the attack non stop and scored the equalizer within thirteen minutes with the scorer being M. Nawman.

This last minute burst by the young Lava Lane soccerites showed that they are really looking forward to pose a big threat to the other Clubs in the coming weks.

The Raheem brothers and Sanjev Sanjeevan excelled for the Air Force and three of them had used their experience gained through playing in the national team.

Ratnams beat Park SC 2-0

Ratnams Sc from Kotahen started their campaign for the Dialog Champions Leagfue on a winning note when they trounce Kalutara Park SC 2-0 in their opening game of the tounament at Kalutara on Sunday.

Though the home team had the crowd support Kalutara Park SC could please their supporters as expected. Custodian of the home team Sujan Perera did a wonderful job between the posts if not his efforts the score line could have been much higher in favor of the visitor.

Tharusha Rangana scored both goals for Ratnams in the26th and 71st minutes. At half time Ratnams led 1-0. Ratnams had an opportunity to add another goal if the penalty kick taken by Dudley Stainwall was in the right direction.

S. Basnayeka controlled the game.

Don Bosco beat New Youngs 2-0

Dulip Dalpadadu scored a double for Don Bosco SC in the51st and 91st minute to put give side a comfortable win against New Youngs SC from Wennappuwa at Negombo last Sunday in the Dialog Champions League Tournament Match. At lemons the score card wa s a blank one.

The two Nigerians who are doing services for the Wennappuwa Club Piuslas and Sumvi played well

for New Youngs but their forwards failed to get the maximum use from the passes they got from them.

Also the defense made many mistakes by not marking the strikers of the Negombo team.k

Referee GN Rubesh contralled the game.
