Stay in offices on Wednesday, officials told

In a move to provide a streamlined service to the people in the Southern Province, Provincial Secretary W Weerakoon yesterday issued a special directive to Provincial State Service officials to stay in their offices every Wednesday to meet the people and solve their problems on the instructions of Chief Minister Shan Wijayalal de Silva.

The Chief Minister has received a number of complaints that officials are not at their offices on Wednesday which has been declared a public day.

People have also complained that there are some officers who leave their offices just few hours after they come to the office citing various reasons.
