Mercy back with Devlo Doni

Senior artiste Mercy Edirisinghe is back on the stage with her new
production of the stage play Devlo Doni (Heavenly Daughter).

The Muhurath of the New production was held at the Elphinston Theatre
on July 28. Public Management Reforms Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake
and United National Party Deputy Leader and Parliamentarian Karu
Jayasuriya participated in the ceremony as chief guests.
Devlo Doni was first staged in 1974. Thereafter it was produced
several occasions later. The drama is a creation of Hector Kumarasiri.
E. D. Sriyapala is its Production Manager. Mercy Edirisinghe, Wijeratne
Warakagoda, Gamini Hettiarachchi, Prasana Fonseka, Damayanthi Perera,
Aravinda Ranasinghe and Sarath Pieris are some in the cast of the play.
Later musician Austin Munasinghe was the music director of the drama.
Music of the new production will be conducted by lecturer of Nimantha
Heshan.
Mercy Edirisinghe Rasika Nivahana also inaugurated parallel to this
ceremony and its first membership was granted to Minister Ratnasiri
Wickramanayake.
The Rasika Nivahana was established with the objective of gathering
fans across the country, holding discussions on art and getting them to
involve in art activities in future. The Rasika Nivahana was established
at No 44, Sirisangabo road, Kawdana, Dehiwela. |
