Metikaraththaya at Elphinstone
Another premier of a janakaraliya Drama and Theatre Arts institution
production will be staged at 3.30 and 6.45 p.m. on August 11 at the
Elpinstone Theatre, Colombo 10. It is the Sinhala production of
Shudraka's Mrichchakatika a Sanskrit play translated by Piyadasa
Nissanka.

This newest addition to Janakaraliya drama series will be performed
in the janakaraliya mobile theatre after next January at provincial
level. The drama was directed by Parakrama Niriella with assistance by
Ronika Chamalee and Thiyagaraja Sivaneishan. Full time Janakaraliya
members Jayanatha Muthutanthri, Suneth Shanthapriya, Malithi Kumari,
Nishantha Kularatna, Manjula Ranasinghe, Rasaiya Lohanandan, Dinesh
Livera, Palitha Abeylal, Sokkalingam Krishanthan, Arosha Tharangani,
Selvaraj Leelawathi, Ajanthan Shanthakumar, Ronika Chamali, Thyagaraja
Sivanesan, Sineth Devinda, Ranjith Sumith, Amila Dineshkumara,
Rajeshwaran Sathyaprabha, Sarath Banagala, Chandani Malkanthi, Inoka
Lankapura, Bhuddhika Ratnasekara, Ruvini Dilanthi, Asela Chathuranga,
Suresh Asanga, Dinesh Kumara and child actors Ranisu Domika and Kavindu
Kunchana are the cast of Meti Karaththaya.
Executive producers of the drama are Amitta Weerasinghe and Dilip
Rohana. While music direction has been conducted by Sumudu
Mallawaarachchi, costumes are designed by Suwineetha Subasinghe. Rohan
Samaradivakara contributes by producing sets and props for the drama.
Other major contributors are Ranaga Samarakoon in theatre lighting,
Palitha Abeylal in makeup and Ravinbandu Vidyapathi in choreography.
