Second Alaska air crash in week
US: A large multi-engine cargo-type plane crashed Sunday in Denali
National Park in the US state of Alaska, causing a yet-to-be determined
number of fatalities, the National Parks Service said.
In a statement, it said the aircraft crashed into the south-facing
slope of Mount Healy, within a mile (1.6 kilometers) of the park
headquarters, at approximately 3:00 pm local time (2300 GMT). “There are
fatalities, but the number and identities can not be confirmed at this
time,” the statement said. The crash ignited a wildfire, which was being
contained.
