National Energy Efficiency Award, the Energy Exhibition and the Energy
Symposium. The former would span a single day, while the latter two will
span five days.

The symposium has been structured under five themes as follows. Each
theme would be featured on a different day parallel to the Exhibition.
1) Future Energy Managers - for
schools
School children are the most important target group to disseminate
knowledge and good practices on energy. Future Energy Managers will
provide the opportunity for school children to present innovative ideas
in the pipeline and successful projects implemented at school or
household level.
Future Energy Managers will include three components, i.e., 10
student presentations, inter provincial energy quizzes and a keynote
address by a school student to be delivered today (August 3). The
preparatory activities will be carried out in collaboration with
Education Ministry.
2) An Energy Conscious
Nation Creating floor for different stakeholders related to the area
of energy efficiency, “An energy conscious nation” will be the seminar
window for the Energy management activities of SLSEA. Case studies on
energy efficiency improvement activities carried out by Energy Service
Companies (ESCOs), presentations on the role and experience of
investors, activities under JICA project and other donor agency support
for future programs. Energy labelling schemes and other regulatory
interventions of the SLSEA too will be covered under this theme.
3) Towards an Energy Secure Sri Lanka
This is the highest academic component of the symposium. University
academia and senior researchers would share their knowledge and
experiences with peers.
4)A Greener Sri Lanka
This would explore the realms of clean energy technologies in Sri
Lanka. Services extended by the SLSEA on renewable energy resource
development including best practice projects, the Geographical
Information System (GIS) will receive priority. Further, the role of
project developers, their experiences, investment windows...etc will be
covered under this theme.
5)Efficient lighting
Lighting has been identified as the most promising subject area
especially for reducing the peak electricity demand. The Regional Centre
for Lighting - South Asia, fostered within the SLSEA, would cover this
theme, showcasing some of the latest technological developments in the
lighting industry. ESCOs and lighting designer companies will provide
