Mexico-China open high-hevel dialogue
Mexico: Mexican Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa and her
Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi opened a high-level dialogue in favour
of expanding and diversifying bilateral relations. With the
participation of more than 150 officials from both nations, the Fourth
meeting of the Mexico-China Permanent Bi-national Commission will be in
session for two days at the headquarters of the Secretariat of Foreign
Affairs (SRE).
Yang considered the meeting will be very important as it will include
the signing of the the Joint Action Programme 2011-2015.
There are plans to promote economic, scientific-technical, cultural
and educational, transportation and communication cooperation, said the
viisiting diplomat. According to Espinosa, the importance of relations
with China is beyond all doubt: China is the second global trading
partner of Mexico and the first one in the Asia-Pacific area.
Espinosa also stated that in the meeting it is expected to address
global issues such as climate change, organized crime, disarmament,
weapons proliferation and international financial governance.
During the meeting the subcommittees of Political, Economic and
Commercial Affairs, Scientific and Technological Cooperation and
Cultural and Educational Cooperation will be also in session.
The Permanent Bi-national Commission was established in August 2004
and, in the view of both governments, it is a valuable tool that they
expect to enrich and modernize the strategic partnership. Mexico, Prensa
