It wasn't keen contest between bat and ball - Sangakkara

"It was a terrific pitch to bat on but there was nothing for the
bowlers until the last session," said Sri Lanka Captain Kumar Sangakkara
speaking at the post match press conference. When the question was
pondered as to if these type of wickets encourage the survival of test
cricket Sangakkara responded by saying "we expect a keen contest between
bat and ball but it didn't happen as the bat dominated almost all the
five days of play".
He also commented on the costly miss of Sachin Tendulkar when he was
on 29. "Prasanna is one of the best wicket keepers in the world and he
had an off day and it cost us alot of runs and it would have changed the
course of the match".
Daily News posed a question regarding Chanaka Welagedara who was
dropped for the second test and Sangakkara responded by saying that
Welagedara needs to work a bit more on his technique and run up. "Rangana
Herath wasn't attacking enough and the Indian batsmen seemed to play him
with ease so we opted to play Suraj Randiv because of his capability to
get more bounce and attack the batsmen more", added Sangakkara.
"Sri Lanka should have attacked more after they got three quick
wickets of India in the first innings". D M |
