UNP temporarily suspends Cader

The UNP Working Committee temporarily suspended Kandy district UNP MP
Abdul Cader from the Working Committee membership yesterday.
UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said this suspension was due
to certain violations of the party decisions.
A panel of inquiry will be appointed to investigate whether Cader has
worked against the party constitution. If he is proven guilty,
disciplinary action will be taken against him, he said.
Cader told the Daily News that he was not informed about the
suspension of his membership. He said he was aware about a discussion at
the previous Working Committee Meeting to suspend his membership.
“Neither telephone call nor a letter has been received yet about my
suspension,” he replied.
He extended his support with government members for the extension of
the state of emergency and budget 2010 , while the UNP abstained from
voting.
Cader had reportedly disagreed with the UNP leadership over the Kandy
nomination list at the recent parliamentary polls. |
