Buddha Jayanthi celebration in London

The fourth consecutive meeting of the Sri Lankan Sangha Sabha in United Kingdom was held at Letchworth Buddhist Vihara on June, 17 2010.

The Sri Lankan Sangha Sabha in the United Kingdom agreed to host a Special Celebration to mark the 2600th Buddha Jayanthi in 2011 in London. It was proposed by the Most Venerable Bogoda Seelawimala Sangha Nayaka thera (Chief Prelate of United Kingdom), the Head priest of the London Buddhist Vihara. An initial meeting to discuss the proper arrangements was held on July 28 at the London Buddhist Vihara with the participation of a Bhikkhu and a devotee from every Sri Lankan temple in the United Kingdom.

Most Venerable Dr Witharandeniye Kassapa Thera chaired the meeting. Most Venerable Bogoda Seelawimala Nayaka Thera and Most Venerable Galayaye Piyadassi Nayaka Thera also attended. The next meeting is scheduled to be held on October 13 at the London Buddhist Vihara.
