Wild boar sneaks into house

Rams electrical gadgets:

A wild boar caused mayhem after invading a two storeyed house in Murutalawa venting its fury on the TV, video cassette player and other electrical appliances while the householder was away attending a party in a neighbouring home.

The wild boar was in full occupation of the home for nearly 10 hours while the householder was away partying but even after the arrival they had been unable to get rid of the animal despite all efforts. It was eventually two doctors attached to the Veterinary Department of the Peradeniya University who were contacted by the household, who tamed the animal after stunning it by shooting with an anaesthetic drug.

The animal later calmly left the scene.

The damage caused by the animal was estimated at over Rs 400,000.
