Kavinda (130) props up SSC

Middle order batsman Nuwan Kavinda hit a splendid 130 with two sixes and a dozen boundaries as the SSC reached an impressive 295 in their first innings on the opening day of their rain hit SLC Under-23 division one three day cricket tournament match against Moratuwa SC which began at the Colts grounds in Havelock Park yesterday.

SSC: 295 (D. Karunaratne 24, D. Fernando 43, N. Kavinda 130, S. Ramesh 32, C. Mendis 2 for 46, A. de Alwis 2 for 75, C. Fernando 2 for 44) v Moratuwa SC.


Priyanjan - 89

Sri Lanka ‘A’ cap Ashan Priyanjan hit a top score of 89 to help the Tamil Union reach 199 for 6 in their first innings on the opening day of their rain hit SLC Under-23 division one three day cricket tournament match against Ragama CC which began at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Tamil Union: 199 for 6 (A. Priyanjan 89, S. Kelumpriya 43, U. Peiris 28, S. Perera 2 for 62, K. Gajasinghe 2 for 28) v Ragama CC.


Chaturanga shines

Dynamic all rounder Chaturanga Kumara hit a fighting half century but could not prevent Colts CC from been bowled out for 164 runs in their first innings on the opening day of their rain hit SLC Under-23 division one three day cricket tournament match against the CCC which began at Maitland Crescent yesterday.

Colts CC: 164 (P. Silva 19, K. Janith 26, C. Kumara 64, P. Priyankara 3 for 26, Y. Manoj 3 for 26, P. Dias 2 for 10).

CCC: 40 for 2 (P. Dias 20 n.o, T. Perera 2 for 8).


Navy shot out for 135

Spinner Dilshan Munaweera snapped up four wickets for 34 to help Bloomfield skittle out Sri Lanka Navy Sports Club for 135 runs in their first innings on the opening day of their rain hit SLC Under-23 division one three day cricket tournament match which began at Welisara yesterday.

Navy SC: 135 (B. Alwis 35, U. Jayasundera 21, D. Munaweera 4 for 34, S. Narangoda 2 for 19, M. Warnapura 2 for 13).

Bloomfield: 33 for 1.


BRC get 267/7

Two fighting half centuries from Asiri Rabel and Praneeth Jayasinghe helped the BRC reach 267 for 7 in their first innings on the opening day of their rain hit SLC Under-23 division one three day cricket tournament match against Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club which began at Rifle Green yesterday.

BRC: 267 for 7 (A. Rabel 54, P. Jayasinghe 53 n.o, F. Saleem 46, A. Solomons 40, M. Madushanka 38, A. Ishanka 3 for 74, A. Gihan 3 for 85) v Air Force SC.

Chilaw Marians CC were well placed at 167 for 3 in their first innings on the opening day of their rain hit SLC Under-23 division one three day cricket tournament match against the NCC which began at Maitland Place yesterday.
