Lipton Circus redesigned

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has begun to redesign the Lipton Circus junction to reduce traffic congestion during rush hours.

CMC Special Commissioner Omar Kamil said roads leading from Cambridge Place to the Museum through Flower Road are under construction by the CMC as part of the facelift of the Colombo city.

“The road from Lipton Circus up to Elakanda Road on both sides is in the process of carpeting while the redesigning is at the junction near the Lipton Circus,” he added.

Kamil told the Daily News that there is a bottleneck at this place that creates traffic congestion for vehicles coming from Town Hall along Elakanda Road towards Lipton Circus.

Redesigning the junction will improve traffic movement towards Deans Road and Union Place, he said.
