Ministry doubtful Lankans among boat people

The External Affairs Ministry said it was not in a position to ascertain whether Sri Lankans were among boat people heading to Canada.

An Official for the External Affairs Ministry told the Daily News that according to earlier reports the MV Sun Sea formally known as Harin Panich 19 is carrying Tamil Tiger leaders among its passengers heading to Australia from Thailand.

"Subsequently the ship has changed its destination. Now reports say that the ship is heading towards Canada", the Ministry spokesperson said.
