Amendments to z-score soon- SB


Higher Education Minister S. B. Dissanayake with Colombo Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. Malcolm Ranjith at the Archbishop’s House yesterday.

 

There will be some amendments to the z-score system in the near future, Higher Education Minister S. B. Dissanayake said during discussions with Colombo Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. Malcolm Ranjith at the Archbishop’s House, Borella yesterday.

The Minister said there are lots of talented students in the traditional subjects but they are unable to enter university because of the z-score.

Some students are proficient in traditional dancing while some students can play music instruments well. However those who are talented fail to enter universities. This system should be changed, he added.

“There are over two million vacancies for nurses overseas. We will take steps to seize on this opportunity. Aquinas College is producing world class diploma holders and in the future they will grant scholarships to students to apply to this institute. We will provide help enhance the quality of education at Aquinas College of Higher Studies.”
