Graduates as Jana Sabha secretaries

An interview will be called from 36,000 graduates who had applied for
the posts of Jana Sabha Secretaries in Jana Sabha Secretariats to be
established at rural level, Economic Development Deputy Minister
Lakshman Yapa Abeywardane said.
The interview will be held next month, the Deputy Minister told a
media conference at the Information Department Auditorium yesterday.
Abeywardane said the number of vacancies will be decided after the
delimitation of new local boundaries in line with proposed amendments to
the Local Government Act.
Explaining the official capacity of Jana Sabha Secretaries, the
Deputy Minister said he or she will be assigned duties as Co-ordinating
Officers and village level Field Officers such as Agricultural Extension
Officers, Samurdhi Niyamakas, Grama Sevaka Niladaris and Family Health
Workers.
A public representative of the area will be the President of the Jana
Sabha.
According to the Deputy Minister the Jana Sabha Secretaries should be
a resident of the area and recognized among the people and with a sound
personality.
Tourist arrivals from India and Europe had increased by 74,000 by the
end of last month. Over 2.3 million tourists are expected by 2016, he
said.
Economic Development Deputy Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said a
scheme of recruitment will be established to create future professional
prospects for 45,000 graduates recruited to the Government service
during the last five years paving the way to enter the Sri Lanka
Administrative Service.
