Bonda Meedum is a love story. It sounds cliché but that is what it is
- a love story.
Sansala is a 20-year old innocent, unspoilt beauty. Maliyadda is her
father, a wealthy businessman. At an early age she lost her mother to a
sickness. She is a sensitive girl unaware of the pitfalls in life, upset
by the slightest incident, adored by her father and her younger brother.
Dhanuka is a handsome young man from a respectable middle class
family and a resident of Matale. A young man of passion, bravery and
chivalry, and wise to the world. Dhanuka's father is a friend of
Maliyadda. Dhanuka travels to Colombo to meet Maliyadda to discuss
employment. When arriving at Maliyadda's house, Dhanuka first meets
Sansala and is bewitched. However the feeling is not mutual. Maliyadda
likes Dhanuka and hires him as supervisor at one of his construction
companies.

Dhanuka supports Maliyadda in a big way and as a result, frequents
Maliyadda's house and sees Sansala a number of times. However Sansala is
extremely cold to Dhanuka. To complicate the matter Maliyadda's distant
nephew Saliya entertains the idea of marrying Sansala and ridicules
Dhanuka. Dhanuka is upset but his resolve is strong.
"All gathered here at this Muhurath are important as they have
rendered the country a service in some way. What is different about this
Muhurath is that it was done on a religious theme. This is quite
commendable and praiseworthy. When people hear the word 'mega' they
think of something long and undesirable. People scorn these mega events
and downgrade their value. You can't blame the viewer because when the
quality of production drops they viewers perceive all mega events as
simply a waste of time," said Actor Buddhadasa Vitaanaachchi.
Vitaanaachchi noted that the reason for this notion is that there is
a deterioration in Sri Lankan Cinema with every Tom, Dick and Harry who
have no training and expertise, enter Sri Lankan Cinemas as directors.
Noteworthy cinematic creations such as Kung Fu and Oshin have circulated
the globe and are still being shown.
