NYSC training centres:

Better qualified instructors should be appointed

Instructors with better qualifications should be appointed to the National Youth Services Council Training Centres to improve their status and enable them to create a talented youth force, said Youth Affairs and Vocational Training Deputy Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage when he met NYSC Officers in the Central Province at the Nipunatha Piyasa in Colombo recently to discuss measures to upgrade NYSC training centres recently.

The Deputy Minister said youth should be properly armed with modern knowledge and techniques if they were to contribute towards efforts to transform Sri Lanka into a miracle of Asia.

He also directed officials to modernize the Yawwana Navodaya training programs conducted at the 600 youth clubs in the province.

The shortcomings of the Youth Training Centres including buildings, hostels and training programs was also discussed at length at this meeting and the Deputy Minister agreed to address them without delay.
