Meesalai station reconstruction to foster communal amity

Rs four million allocated:

The Central Provincial Council has allocated Rs 40 lakhs as an initial fund to reconstruct the Meesalai railway station.

This is a commendable step to build and strengthen North-South bridge of friendship," Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake said. This will also foster national unity and communal harmony, the Chief Minister said.

He was speaking at a function to inaugurate the reconstruction of the Meesalai railway station.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by the Chief Secretary of the Council and Provincial Ministers, Jaffna Government Agent K. Ganesh presided.

The Chief Minister said the Central Provincial Council has come forward to complete the reconstruction of the Meesalai railway station setting apart Rs 40 lakhs, he said. He was glad to participate in the inaugural function which is a hallmark in Sinhala-Tamil unity.

He reiterated that the reconstruction work will hasten the extension of North railway to Kankesanthurai.
