Acquiring Shell confirms Govt's non-privatization policies

Mass Media and Communication Minister Keheliya Rambukwella yesterday told the media that the Government decision to take over Shell Gas Company has clearly confirmed its non-privatization policies towards better competitive service.

Minister Rambukwella said that the Government expects to break the monopoly in the Gas market by the private sector by acquiring more shares of the Gas company.

Rambukwella said that it is also important to have these shares under the Government to face new challenges which may impose after exploring oil from our land.

The private companies are interested only with the profit. The Government is bound to provide Gas at low price as it is an essential commodity.
