Class suspension on 18 J'pura undergrads removed

The class suspension imposed on 18 students of the Sri
Jayewardenepura University was removed by Higher Education Minister S.B.
Dissanayake during discussions with University officials yesterday.
The Minister visited the University yesterday morning and had
discussions with the Vice Chancellor, Deans, Professors and Student
Union representatives.
The Minister allowed the suspended students to sit for the semester
exams.
He also agreed to withdraw the police entries made against them.
Student union representatives agreed not to interfere in academic
activities and stop their protests.
They said they will work closely with university officials in the
future. The students were suspended on charges of misleading lecturers
and pasting posters inside the university premises. |
