Innings win for Chilaw Marians

Chilaw Marians CC spearheaded by a splendid unbeaten century from opener Buddhi Samarawickrema defeated BRC outright by an innings and 68 runs in their SLC Under 23 division one three day cricket tournament match which concluded at Havelock Park yesterday.

Samarawickrema struck ten fours during his knock of 111 as Chilaw Marians CC piled up 335 for 9 in their first innings. BRC were skittle out for just 97 runs in their second innings with Umesh Karunaratne and Geeth Alwis claiming three wickets each.

BRC: 170 and 97 (Y. Abeykoon 21, U. Karunaratne 3 for 36, G. Alwis 3 for 8, M. Liyanapathirana 2 for 30).

Chilaw Marians CC: 335 for 9 decl (B. Samarawickrema 111 n.o, L. Weragala 53, R. Gunasekera 51, G. Alwis 47, A. Janoda 33, R. Perera 5 for 50).

Bloomfield have it easy

Spinners Amal Atapattu and Dimithri Ratnayake snapped up three wickets each to give Bloomfield a rousing nine wicket outright victory over Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club in their SLC Under 23 division one three day cricket tournament match which concluded at Rifle Green yesterday.

Air Force SC: 156 and 251 (N. Pavithra 75, S. Bulathwela 39, A. Gihan 43, A. Atapattu 3 for 82, D. Ratnayake 3 for 63, M. Warnapura 2 for 16).

Bloomfield: 367 and 44 for 1 (D. Ratnayake 21 n.o.).

Twin hundreds by Ashan

Sri Lanka ‘A’ player Ashan Priyanjan had the unique honour of completing twin hundreds as Tamil Union took first innings points over Colts CC in their SLC Under 23 division one three day cricket tournament match which concluded at Havelock Park yesterday.

Priyanjan followed up his 118 in the first innings with another solid 109 as Tamil Union rattled up a formidable 370 for 8 in the second innings.

Tamil Union: 307 and 370 for 8 (A. Priyanjan 109, S. Kelumpriya 73, D. Jayasinghe 52, A. Nanayakkara 38, D. Jayatilleke 39, L. Gamage 22, R. Weerasinghe 4 for 110, R. de Mel 2 for 40).

Colts CC: 209

SSC fall short

SSC fell short by just one wicket from pulling off an outright victory over Seeduwa Raddoluwa CC in their SLC Under 23 division one three day cricket tournament match which concluded at Maitland Place yesterday.

After having scored a massive 403 for 9 they had the opposition following on but ran out of overs when Seeduwa Raddoluwa CC were struggling at 160 for 9 in their second innings.

SSC: 403 for 9 decl (L. Fernando 114, C. Jayampathy 74, K. Vithanage 57, B. Rajapaksa 41, A. Jayasinghe 45, M. Cooray 4 for 92)

Seeduwa Raddoluwa CC: 198 (R. de Silva 48, S. Wickrema 4 for 79, S. Ramesh 3 for 23) and 160 for 9 (L. de Silva 36, S. Ramesh 4 for 40, C. Jayampathy 2 for 23, S. Wickrema 2 for 60).

Easy for NCC

NCC cruised to an easy first innings victory over Moors Sports Club in their SLC Under 23 division one three day cricket tournament match which concluded at Maitland Place yesterday.

Moors SC: 236 and 193 for 7 (Y. Lanka 78, C. de Silva 43, R. Wijenayake 4 for 64, I. Udayanga 2 for 20).

NCC: 340 for 9 decl (S. Pussegolla 50, K. Hettihewa 74, C. Peiris 43, R. Laksiri 54, H. Mawjood 50 n.o, A. Perera 22, I. Samarasuriya 2 for 26, S. Fernando 2 for 89).
