Paramour remanded for alleged manslaughter

Medawachchiya Magistrate Chandima Edirimanna ordered to detain in the remand prison till July 13 a paramour of a woman who is alleged to have murdered her husband by attacking with a club on July 1.

The paramour and the couple had lived in the same house. Medawachchiya police say the murder was due to an argument between the two who were under the influence of liquor while the woman was away from home.

The deceased is G. G. Weeraratne (45) of Wahamalgollawa Yaya Paha. The suspect is W. Wijebandara of Yaya Paha. Police arrested the suspect on a complaint made by the wife of the deceased.
