Good atmosphere through Citizen’s Charter

The Citizen’s Charter introduced by the Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry in district offices has created a good atmosphere accelerating the process of issuing birth, marriage and death certificates, a Registrar General’s Department senior official said.

The Senior Official told the Daily News the computer aided certificate issuing system which had been introduced at Divisional Secretariat level through the BMD (Birth, Marriages, Deaths) project was able to create a new office atmosphere with a satisfactory service to the people. The Registrar General’s Department registered 179,557 marriages, 308,579 births and 11,704 deaths during last year.

Department sources said 652 marriages, 3,606 births and 25 deaths had been registered in the Sri Lanka diplomatic missions abroad within the same period.
