CBSL in North

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) opened its fourth Provincial Office in the Northern Province yesterday.

At present, CBSL operates Provincial Offices (POs) in the Southern, the North-Central and the Central Provinces. One of the primary functions of the POs is to implement the development oriented loan schemes introduced by CBSL in the respective provinces.

Under the Uthuru Wasanthaya accelerated development program, banks and non-bank financial institutions are expected to play a pivotal role in providing financial services.
