Iran blames US for sanctions
Rules out Israeli attack:
Iran: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad blamed the United
States for proposing new sanctions against his country for approval by
the UN Security Council and considered that an Israeli military attack
was improbable.
Ahmadinejad said that the fourth package of punitive measures
approved by the UN last June was due to "hard lobbying" by the US in its
efforts to hinder the Iranian nuclear program.
"We find the US responsible for the resolution, because the Security
Council is under its influence," the president said, and added that the
White House has treated Teheran with the same hostility for over 50
years.
Despite the tense regional climate, worsened by the presence of US
and Israeli warships, Ahmadinejad ruled out the possibility of an
Israeli attack, affirming that "no country will dare launch an
offensive" against Iran. Teheran, Prensa Latin
