Kingswood hockey champions

Kingswood College, Kandy turned giant killers when they beat the more
fancied Dharmaraja College 1-0 in the finals to become champions in the
Kandy District Schools boys under 19 championship organised by the Kandy
District Schools Hockey Association and played at the University Ground,
Peradeniya. At half time their was no scoring.
The final turned out to be a closely contested battle with both teams
playing constructive hockey. Though the forwards strived hard but the
defences of both teams did well to keep them at bay.
The winners scored their goal mid way in the second half when their
centre forward Raj Mohan stopped the ball off a penalty corner.
The winners were awarded the Rennie Ibrahim Trophy.
In the semi finals Dharmaraja College scored a close 2-1 win over
Trinity College after leading 1-0 at lemons.
Dharmaraja College who won during extra time obtained their goals
through Harsha Egodage (1), and Pubudu Ratnayake (1), for Trinity Hakeem
Shah sounded the boards.
A.B. Godigamuwa and Senthil Kumar umpired.
In the second semi finals Kingswood College trenched Vidyartha
College 4-0 after leading 2-0 at the breather.
