Housing loans for displaced

A special loan program has been introduced for displaced families in the Northern Province by the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA). The renovation of the NHDA District Office in Kilinochchi also commenced Thursday.

Under the new loan scheme Rs 325,000 will be provided to each householder.

The construction of these houses should be done by the householders with NHDA technical assistance, NHDA Chairman Jayantha Samaraweera said. A three month target for the completion of the renovation was set by Minister Wimal Weerawansa.

Participating in the inaugural ceremony, Samaraweera said the NHDA is determined to build 5,000 houses in the province within the next four months. He said families for the loan scheme have been identified by the Kilinochchi Government Agent with a location.
