Thilanga envisions beautiful city
Colombo District Parliamentarian Thilanga Sumathipala said there
should be proper plans to make Colombo a clean and beautiful city.
He was addressing the Colombo District coordinating committee meeting
chaired by Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premajayantha at the
Shravasthi hall in Colombo recently.
Thilanga said "Several shops in the Borella Supermarket have been
closed down, with no definite policy regarding those shops that remain.
In the Dematagoda slaughterhouse, around 70 goats and 90 pigs are
slaughtered in the most inhuman way each day. Some of the internal
organs of the slaughtered animals are cast into the main drainage
system. Community Centres in the city are not maintained but have been
taken over by alcohol and drug users. The attention of the Municipal
Commissioner should be directed towards these issues."
Colombo District Additional Secretary W.N.R.P. Wijeyapala also
addressed the meeting. |
