Restaurant drama takes new twist
Police said the Indian national who was
reported missing while serving at the Big Banana Restaurant at
Stafford Road, Kirullapone was murdered at a nearby house owned by
the restaurant owner and the body transported in a double cab before
it was dumped in the sea at Mundalama.

Navy Commander Vice Admiral. Thisara Samarasinghe
said yesterday that the Sri Lankan and Indian Navies are working
closely to strengthen security in the seas to counter any possible
revival of terrorism. He made this observation at a press conference
at the Navy Headquarters after calling on Indian Navy Chief of Naval
Staff Nirmal Verma who is on a goodwill visit to Sri Lanka.

Indian Navy Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Verma
paid a courtesy call on Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa at the
Defence Ministry yesterday. Discussions were held to promote

Fonseka further remanded
Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District
Judge Lanka Jayaratne yesterday further remanded General Sarath
Fonseka till July 12, 2010. The Criminal Investigation Department
(CID) investigating the alleged fraud committed by Hicorp (Pvt)
Limited earlier told Judge Jayaratne that CID investigations had
revealed General Fonseka’s involvement in the case and was made the
third suspect.
