CMC to launch night shopping bazaar

The Colombo Municipal Council will launch a night shopping bazaar for
the benefit of night shoppers the next month at Green Path.
CMC Chief City Administrator Omar Kamil said a temporary hawker
street will be commenced during the night for the night shoppers.
Temporary shops and stalls will be opened from 6.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m.
every Fridays and weekends.
These shops will include restaurants of Five Star hotels, garment
outlets, fancy good stores together with amusement and music.
He said those who wish to sell goods such as flowers are welcome to
grab the opportunity.
"We also request the CTB and private transport services to provide
more transport facilities during late hours for public convenience,"
Kamil told the Daily News.
He noted that the night shopping bazaar is established at the request
of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The People in the Colombo city now have
freedom to move freely after the defeat of terrorism. This will also
make the Colombo city come alive. |
